Daniel and I started out doing the Hydrogen Bubbler project with Kalvin. We started by creating the product, then we made our page and did our blogs with it. Since Kalvin left we started a new project, which is cleaning city park.
The progress of our project has been going quite well. There have been some setbacks, but we managed to come up with new ideas to make our project the best it can be. One of the setbacks was in the first semester when Kalvin switched class’s making us choose a new idea for our Genius hour. Instead of the Hydrogen Bubbler we chose to go a whole new direction by volunteering to clean up city park.
While Starting our new project we chose to clean city park because it helps out the community, and we are still able to be outside enjoying the outdoors. Our first time at city park, we picked up cans, bottles, bags, and other pieces of garbage that people chose to throw in the park instead of a trash can.
We cleaned on saturday and sunday, for about three hours each day. Even though it’s unpreventable to stop people from littering, we still learned some ethics about how to take care and manage our land we are provided with. Also on the plus side we found some golf balls as well.
I shared my learning, by telling my friends and passing it on throughout their friends. I also passed it on by including it on my genius hour page and whoever visits my page will learn the ethics of caring for our land.
I think this will change people's mind about littering, and will give them an idea of what it does to our environment and the animals that live around the park. I also hope people will begin picking up trash that isn't even theirs.
If I had to do something different with my genius hour project, I would have done a project of teaching students how to live off the land, such as fishing, hunting, and trapping. I think this would be a great project for me, because I accel in things that interest me, and if my hobbies can be homework i’m all in.
If I would have done this project I would have brought people out after school, and supply them with proper gear to teach them how survive in the outdoors, and to just get out and enjoy nature. That is what i would do if I could change my project, or do something differently.
I think our project was very informing for people who don’t think about the result when they throw something on the ground, and don't pick it up. I think we did well on our genius hour, because we actually went out and tried making a difference in our community and the parks around.
I also think our project was organized well, and was worth the effort we put into it. This is what I think I did well for my project.
